Padre Pete’s Column:

Oswald Chambers, a chaplain to the British Commonwealth troops in Egypt during WWI said this: "We are not responsible for the circumstances we are in, but we are responsible for the way we allow those circumstances to affect us. We can either allow them to get on top of us, or we can allow them to change us into what Christ wants us to be."

It is like the saying: “You can’t stop the birds flying over your head, but you can stop the birds nesting in your hair!”

Problems in life will come; unpleasant situations arise in life: other difficulties in life can be debilitating and crippling. You may be in the middle of a hard patch in life at the moment. Circumstances can be opportunities to change us into the people God wants us to be.

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”

(From the Bible 1Thessalonians 5:16 – 18)

Peter Mitchell.
Padre.
